Alperton Community School is a secondary school located in Alperton within the London Borough of Brent. It has approximately 1200 students. The current head teacher is Margaret Rafee. The school is a specialist in Mathematics and Computing. In June 2011, it was deemed "Outstanding" by Ofsted's latest report.
It is divided into two branches; One on Ealing Road, next to Alperton tube station, and another one on Stanley Avenue. The Ealing Road site is more commonly known as the lower site (consisting of Years 7, 8 and 9), and the Stanley Avenue site is known as the upper site (consisting of Years 10, 11, 12 and 13). Every year group is split into two divisions, each containing four forms (classes). These forms are identified by a single letter, the first division has form classes: N, P, Q and R. The second division has form classes: S, T, V and X.
There was a planned development project for the school as well as Copland Community School. Building Schools for the Future (BSF) would have rebuilt the school on one site; the Ealing Road one, that means all year groups will be at one building. The school would have taken over a part of One Tree Hill Open Space, but the plan was criticised for wasting green open space and increased CO2 emissions. The new school was due to be opened by September 2013, but the project has now been cancelled following the move by the Conservative Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove MP, to cancel Labour's £55bn BSF programme.
